#जोज़ेफ़प्रीस्टलि ने #ऑक्सीजन की खोज की थी। हालाँकि ऑक्सीजन की खोज के लिए इतिहास में 

#कार्लविल्हेल्मशीले को भी याद किया जाता हैं, लेकिन ज़ोज़ेफ प्रिस्टली ने अपना शोध कार्ल विल्हेल्म शीले से पहले प्रकाशित कर दिया था। ज़ोज़ेफ प्रिस्टली ने अपने शोध के दौरान एक खास तरह के गैस का जाँच पहले चूहों पर किया फिर इस जाँच को ख़ुद पर किया और ये पाया कि ये गैस सांस लेने के लिये सामान्य हवा से ज्यादा अच्छी हैं। यह गैस असल मे ऑक्सीजन ही थी।

वर्ष 1777 में फ्रांस के रसायन शास्त्री 

#एंटोनीलेवोज़ियर ने इस गैस को ऑक्सीजन का नाम दिया था।
