● World Water Monitoring Day was established in 2003 by America's Clean Water Foundation (A.C.W.F.) as a global educational outreach program. The program, subsequently named the "World Water Monitoring Challenge" and "Earth Echo Water Challenge," aims to build public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources around the world by empowering citizens to carry out basic monitoring of their local water bodies.

( विश्व जल निगरानी दिवस की स्थापना 2003 में अमेरिका के स्वच्छ जल फाउंडेशन (ACWF) द्वारा एक वैश्विक शैक्षिक आउटरीच कार्यक्रम के रूप में की गई थी।  कार्यक्रम, जिसे बाद में "विश्व जल निगरानी चुनौती" और "अर्थइचो वाटर चैलेंज" नाम दिया गया, का उद्देश्य नागरिकों को उनके स्थानीय जल निकायों की बुनियादी निगरानी करने के लिए सशक्त बनाकर दुनिया भर में जल संसाधनों की रक्षा में सार्वजनिक जागरूकता और भागीदारी का निर्माण करना हैं। )
